Role: Credit Analyst – Portfolio Buybacks & Direct Assignment

Role overview: -
· We are seeking a highly analytical Credit Analyst specializing in Direct Assignment (DA) portfolio buybacks.
· In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, underwriting and structuring Direct Assignment (DA) pools and portfolio buyback deals from various originating financial institutions (NBFCs, HFCs, and MFIs)
· You will analyze massive loan level data sets to identify risk, design pool selection criteria, conduct field due diligence and monitor portfolio performance over time to ensure asset quality meets institutional risk thresholds
Key Responsibilities: -
1. Pool underwriting & Risk Assessment:
· Granular Data Analysis- Analyze large historical datasets to estimate prospective credit losses, delinquency trends, and prepayment behaviors.
· Pool Structuring- Define and design target pool selection criteria (seasoning, geography, credit scores, yield)
· Risk Modeling- Build and run cash flow models to assess the financial viability of portfolio buybacks under stressed scenarios
2. Due Diligence & Originator Evaluation:
· On-site Audit- Conduct physical and operational due diligence visits at the branches and corporate offices of the originating institutions.
· Process verification- Audit sample files to evaluate the originator’s underwriting standards, KYC compliance, collection practices and overall operational robustness
· Report Generation: Prepare comprehensive credit assessment and due diligence reports for submission to the Credit Committe
3. Execution and Stakeholder Coordination:
· Deal structuring: Work closely with the treasury, legal and business teams to finalize terms, pricing, and structural parameters of DA transactions.
· Legal documentation: Coordinate with legal teams to ensure that the Assignment agreements, Servicing Agreements and Power of Attorney include necessary clauses for legal detachment and structural protection.
4. Post- Transaction Portfolio Monitoring:
· Performance Tracking- Monitor the performance of assigned/bought-back loan pools monthly against initial projections (tracking NPA, 30/60/90+ DPD and collection efficiency)
